Indiana Jones is one of the most successful movie franchise in America and around the world. Starting back in 1981, Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas released the first Indy film as Raiders of the Lost Ark where we meet Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) for the first time on the big movie screen. The movie was set back in the 1936 where archaeologist adventurer Indiana Jones fought against the Nazi agents to find the ancient Ark of the Covenant hidden in Egypt. The action packed adventure film was an homage to the early movie serials of the 30’s and 40’s which appealed to mass audience to great effect. The box office gross of the movie was over $384 million dollars, a big profit for a movie that was budgeted at only $20 million dollars, which these days is Harrison Ford’s minimum salary for a Hollywood movie. The success of Raiders of the Lost Ark led to the creation of three additional movie sequels and a television series during the 90s. Indiana Jones established itself as a pop icon and inspired many successful commercial merchandise and products like costumes, music, posters, dvds, toys, video games, and comic books.
